The Need in Our Community: Understanding Homelessness in the Coachella Valley

Street Samaritan Alliance operates within a community facing significant challenges related to homelessness.

The top three reasons reported for unsheltered homelessness in Riverside County were Family Disruption, Lack of Income, and Unemployment.

Individuals still face critical financial gaps that can prevent them from achieving or maintaining stability. Issues like "Lack of Income" and "Unemployment"  directly point to the relevance of Street Samaritan Alliance's model. Providing rapid financial assistance for needs related to employment—such as transportation for a new job, as in Jeffrey's case , or necessary tools and uniforms—can directly address these root causes for individuals on the cusp of improving their circumstances.

Street Samaritan Alliance is not seeking to duplicate existing services but rather to fill a very specific and often overlooked gap. By providing rapid financial intervention, the Alliance helps individuals overcome immediate hurdles, thereby enabling them to better access and benefit from the comprehensive services offered by partner organizations throughout the Coachella Valley. This collaborative understanding is key to creating a more effective and responsive network of support.
